Diversity and Inclusion Policy
Inclusion and diversity promote sound decision-making, innovation, successful business, and well-being in our communities. Your Yoga teacher is committed to encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion among students, and eliminating unlawful and unfair discrimination.
The aim is for our classes to be truly representative of all sections of society, and for student and teacher to feel respected and able to give their best. The policy’s purpose is to ensure that we do not unlawfully discriminate because of the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics of: age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin), religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
Your teacher will encourage equality, diversity and inclusion in class while creating a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all.
Your teacher will take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination by other teachers, students, visitors, the public and any others during their class activities. Such acts will be dealt with as misconduct, and appropriate action will be taken. Serious complaints could lead to class dismissal without notice.
Sexual harassment may amount to both a civil rights matter and a criminal matter, such as in sexual assault allegations. Harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 – which is not limited to circumstances where harassment relates to a protected characteristic – is a criminal offence. This includes online harassment.
Your teacher will review this policy when necessary to ensure fairness and update the policy to take account of changes in the law as well as monitor the make-up of the students regarding information such as age, sex, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability.

Photography and Consent
No one has a right to invade your Yoga practice emotionally, physically, or spiritually. Very occasionally your teacher might like to take photographs to showcase their offerings. We will not permit photographs, video, or other images to be taken and shared on social media or otherwise without consent. The usage of such images will be appropriate for their intent and used purely to spread the positive message of Yoga and its teachings as well as for business growth purposes. This consent is greatly appreciated and would really help a small local business and your Yoga teacher to expand their network of teachings. Such images will be taken at a time as you will be made aware and never in a period of relaxation or perceived vulnerability.
You can ask the business to stop using your images at any time, in which case it will not be used in future publications but may continue to appear in publications already in circulation.
You will be asked to consent to your teacher using photographs and/or video recordings including images both internally and externally to promote the business and message of Yoga. These images could be used a variety of formats.
Images on websites can be viewed throughout the world and not just in the United Kingdom and that some overseas countries may not provide the same level of protection to the rights of individuals as EU/UK legislation provides.
Some images or recordings may be kept permanently once they are published and be kept in a secure archive.
You will be asked to read and understand the conditions and consent to images being used as described.
